Sunday Photo ~ Mathew Margolies

The Byram River in Greenwich, CT
On August 31, 1984 Matthew Margolies was enjoying his last day of summer vacation by spending most of it fishing on the Byram River. Tragically sometime that afternoon an unknown person assaulted and murdered Matthew and left his body not far from the river.

I visited the area on a hot and humid August day. I arrived early in the morning and the air was so heavy and hazy, and as you can see from the picture the pollen was thick. The town was quiet on that early Sunday morning, and I barely saw another person. I kept wondering if Matthew would have been out fishing if he hadn't run into a monster that day back in 1984.

A reward has been offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who murdered Matthew Margolies. If you have any information about this case please contact the Greenwich Police department at (203)622-8000

I will be releasing color versions of photos I took while researching my book, and give a little information on that day.
